I had been taking reading books for the year 2024 very seriously. I had setup a personal goal of reading 7 books for 2024. I ended the year having read 12 books and a total of 4499 pages. I beat the record I had setup for myself and it felt great.

I mainly read autobiographies, biographies, and religion books. It felt great to see that I had beaten my challenge. I have upped my book read amount to 10 books for 2025. I have already completed one book - "A World Without Tyranny - Christian Faith and International Politics" by Dean C. Curry. Extremely informative book. Although, written in the 90s it's a very informative book about the different regions of the world and their politics.

However, this all leads me to the the two best quotes I was able to pull out of one read book in 2024.

Quote 1 - "When you stop reading, you stop growing; and when you stop growing, you start dying." - Warren W. Wiersbe

Quote 2 - "No matter how old a book may be, it's a new book to you if you've never read it, so dare to read authors who are new to you." - Warren W. Wiersbe

Both of these quotes are from the book On Being A Servant of God. This was by far the most influencial book of 2024 for me. I have to give thanks to my Lead Pastor, Pastor Toledo, for recommending this book and my campus Pastor, Pastor Josh, for doubling down on this recommendation. Warren happens to be one of his favorite authors. I now see why.

Kick off 2025 with your own book read goal. Even if it's one book. Maybe starting off with ensuring that you read the Bible complete. Then find other books that interest you and lead on from there. It is never too late to gain knowledge and wisdom, but always remember to be cautious of all you read and take in what edifies you.

Read on!
