Preparation. This word is so very important in our walk with the Lord.
I will explain. A farmer is not able to gather a harvest without the preparation of the soil. There is a lot of work that takes place before the farmer can even plant a seed. It also depends on the land. If the land has never been worked before for farming it needs to be sifted and cleaned out of debris. There are countless other steps to do before the planting and then during the growing season before he can even harvest. It is almost impossible to plant crops, ignore it, and expect to gain fruit from it at the end.
How does this translate to us as Christians. We can't just go through life ignoring our relationship with God. We can't continue to ignore our prayers, daily Bible readings, being with likeminded people and fellowshipping on the Word, going to church and hearing the Word. This is how we prepare our soil for the harvest. Our soul gets nourishments. Our spirit connects with Jesus, and we feel the joy and the flow of water through us.
Preparation is everything that we must do to connect with God, to build our relationship with Jesus. Preparation is also maintenance. We must maintain our relationship.
If the farmer stops watering his crops and the rainy season doesn't provide much water - what happens? The crops wither away slowly and die. That is exactly the same outcome to our spiritual life.
Start your preparation today. Connect with Jesus. Ask for his Holy Spirit. Build and maintain that relationship. You will win the price and that is the harvest of what God is doing in your life. The changes, wisdom, and knowledge that the Lord deposits in you.
"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me." - John 15:4
