The Joys of Life

God provides us infinite joy through him, but I also believe that he provides you moments in this life where joy is just a part of it. I believe that fatherhood is one of those joys. It's an awesome feeling to be a dad. It's an even better feeling when you teach your child something new or when they learn something new on their own.

My son was given an automatic toy car from one of his uncles over Christmas. I finally got to setting it up and allowing him to play with it in the house. He decided he wanted to take it out in the 44 degrees Fahrenheit weather. I finally gave in after laying out the rules and he would excitedly agree to them all.

He went outside excited that he would be able to drive his little car the way I drive my car - outside. We went on for a few blocks and for about 40min. Thankfully, this car came with a controller to allow me to do all the controlling if necessary. I had to do it quite a bit until he got used to it.

I felt nothing but happiness as I walked behind him and guide his drive. People driving by, people working outside, and I was this dad with his head on high because of the joy of being on this walk with my son. He drove and drove and drove, excited to drive. We get back to the house and he says that our cars were the same cause they are both black. I have him pull up on the driveway and tell him to park the car in the garage. He tells me - but dad! I want to leave here on the driveway like mom - that was a funny moment.

These are the moments that God created in this life to fill us with joy. Fatherhood is a blessing and I encourage you all to do something with your kid that will fill you internally.

Psalms 127:3 - Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
